EQT Announces MVP Expansion
During its July 22, 2025 earnings presentation, EQT announced that it had commenced an open season “to gauge interest in additional firm transportation service on the Mountain Valley Pipeline (Mainline) and a potential expansion leveraging existing Mainline infrastructure (MVP Boost Project or Project).”
“Mountain Valley is holding this Open Season to solicit interest in an expansion of the Mainline via the addition of a new compressor station in Montgomery County, Virginia and additional compression at each of the three existing compressor stations in West Virginia. Mountain Valley currently anticipates total Project capacity of 500,000 Dth/d.”
POWHR Community Organizer Crystal Mello said, “This is not surprising news as we have been aware of MVP’s land purchase in Eastmont for a while. It’s more concerning now due to the fact that they allegedly fired a welding inspector for calling out their shoddy work. My stomach is turning knowing that if this capacity increase happens with unanswered questions about the pipe safety then people I love are in even more danger.”
According to the Roanoke Times, “the expanded pipeline could begin service in mid-2029.”
Cardinal News reported that “Additional information will be available after Mountain Valley completes a comprehensive review of the open season.”
