In response to the proposed MVP Boost project, which would expand the existing MVP mainline capacity and construct a new compressor station, Mountain Valley Watch, a program of POWHR, is launching air quality monitors in Elliston, VA.

The Board of Supervisors meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 10, at 6:30 PM at the Montgomery County Government Center, 2nd Floor Board Chambers, 755 Roanoke Street Christiansburg, VA. County. Residents are encouraged to attend and urge the board to hold the line and reject the Swann site as unsuitable for a massive, polluting compressor station in an environmental justice community.

Appalachia has long been targeted by the fossil fuel industry and enough is enough. Right now Virginia is being attacked from all sides. For a long time we have been watching the Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) damage our environment and that has not stopped since the pipeline has gone into service. Now there are even more proposed pipeline projects that will be harmful to our environments and our communities. Data centers are being used to justify more pipeline buildout. These projects are effecting climate change and we are seeing the horrific aftermath devastate our communities as we saw with Hurricane Helene.

Following the recent announcement of the proposed Swann Compressor Station, members of the 2022 Virginia Tech Lafayette Household Study research team are reflecting on their experiences and revisiting the findings.

Mountain Valley seeks to expand the pipeline with the addition of a new compressor station in Montgomery County, Virginia and additional compression at each of the three existing compressor stations in West Virginia.
