Frontline Communities Respond to MVP Backers’ Merger

A protest sign raised above a crowd. It reads, "We Stand For Each Other. Stop MVP".

Pittsburgh, PA — EQT Corporation has officially acquired Equitrans Midstream Corporation. Both companies are behind the Mountain Valley Pipeline methane gas project. The merger was contingent on MVP’s completion.

Russell Chisholm, co-director of the Protect Our Water, Heritage, Rights Coalition (POWHR) responded:

“EQT and Equitrans are sloppy, criminal corporations. They are risking a livable future for all by fueling the climate crisis with unnecessary, poorly built methane gas infrastructure. Both companies back the explosive Mountain Valley Pipeline, which runs through my community. I have seen the reckless behavior of these companies firsthand. The fossil fuel era has ended; now all financiers and government officials must stop propping up EQT’s theater set and join us in securing a renewable energy future.”
